I booked my shuttle to the airport for the flight home. :(

Tomorrow is my last day of class, then I have Saturday, Sunday and Monday free to do a small bit of sightseeing/last minute shopping/worry about packing.

My first days here feel like a long time ago but it feels like yesterday that I was at home. I loved Japan although I think one month is just about the right length of time to do something like this, especially for the first time.

I have a busy 12-18 months ahead of me but I will be certainly be making time every day for Japanese. There’s nothing to stop me applying for the JET programme at the end of next year, which if successful would result in my working in Japan for 12 months from July 2016.

Yesterday’s haul!

  • The Kingdom of Dreams and Madness (Studio Ghibli, DVD)
  • When Marnie Was There (Joan G. Robinson, translated into Japanese by Masako Matsuno)
  • Dragon Quest (Enix, Famicom)

When Marnie Was There (2014)
With my limited Japanese I only understood a small amount of the dialogue, but the story was easy to follow. I liked it, it’s a nice film. I bought a beautiful hardcover version of the book translated into Japanese. I probably won’t attempt to read for a long while, but I noticed a generous proportion of the kanji have furigana which is great.
P.S. I also purchased the Studio Ghibli documentary The Kingdom of Dreams and Madness on DVD, with English subtitles! Are you jealous?
P.P.S. This morning I also bought a sealed copy of Dragon Quest 1 for the NES.
I’ll post a picture of this lovely haul in the morning. :P
