Have any of you read anything by:

  • Lydia Davis
  • Grace Paley
  • Amy Hempel
  • Joy Williams

And would you recommend them?

Btw, I only have <200mb left out of a 40GB monthly allowance and it isn’t resetting until Saturday so I’ll only be reading my top favourite blogs…

Wilco - In a Future Age

I’ve ordered my next four books from the library:

  • Christina Stead - The Man Who Loved Children
  • Jack Kerouac - On the Road
  • Toni Morrison - Song of Solomon
  • Vladimir Nabokov - Lolita (which I just realised he wrote in English, you learn something new every day)

In the meantime I’m reading Runaway by Alice Munro which is a beautiful book and has me crying a little (on the inside).

Beautiful novel, easily deserving its reputation and its place near the top of any list of the best books of the 20th century. And beautifully translated into English as well by Gregory Rabassa.
